Hi list

I have a follow up question to this post from a year ago: In a 4.2.1- CE-Magnolia we are getting lots of these *.xml files (see below for additional info), which are not automatically deleted (neither at runtime and nor after stopping the Tomcat). We are using the default log4j configuration as delivered with the community edition. It looks to me like nothing is set to DEBUG level there.

What am I missing? How do I switch debugging off for i.m.m.exchangesimple? Or is it something else I should be setting so that the *.xml files are not filling up our server?

Thanks for any pointers,
Anne

Additional info:
- The *.xml files are found in the temp-directory of the main Tomcat directory.
- They have names such as:
        export-dmsadmin10644.xml

The exchange files should be left there only if you have debugging
enabled for activation. Check your log configuration and switch off
debugging for i.m.m.exchangesimple and i.m.m.exchangetransactional so
there are no new files left there.
You can safely delete all exchange* files at runtime, as long as there is no activation running (which might not be so easy to ensure in your
case)

So, if tomcat is down, it is safe to clean the entire "tmp" folder content?

yes when tomcat is down you can remove everything from tmp folder.

... if nothing else you can definitively remove all exchange*
files older then today.

What about other files? They are all activation XML files, isn't it?

the resources*.xml are also related to activation as might be some of
the content files. Once you switch off the debugging on
i.m.m.exchangesimple.BaseSyndicatorImpl those files should be no longer
left in tmp folder, but should be deleted automatically.

STH (Sure that helps!)
