Hi Jan! The way I see it, you don't have to wait for ModeShape... you can use Magnolia's underlying JackRabbit repository from your Webapp and Magnolia at the same time (see Jackrabbit Clustering).
That way you could put content into the repository using Magnolia, and read it out from within your webapp. Whether this is a good idea or not, I am not sure.
