Hi Tomas! No, unfortunately what you are trying is not possible... I had exactly the same thought at first, but STK does not work this way.
The "areas" are fixed methods of the template definition (see class STKTemplate), so things like "extrasArea", "promosArea" and "navigation/horizontal" are fixed names, and can't be changed via the configuration. - Either live with it, and work out your own system for what area means what in your templates, - Or subclass STKTemplate to add your own areas...
