Hi Rade We've done exactly what you're describing: - roles, groups, permissions in Magnolia - username, password, rolenames, groupnames in an external DB - Custom external user, custom external user manager, custom JAAS login module
Our user manager sets up the role list and group list properly when it creates the user and sets those lists in the users "subject". However I don't have the details of our implementation present so all I can say is: Yes, it can be done. -will On 06.06.2011, at 16:48, Magnolia Forums (on behalf of Radomir Zugic) wrote: > > Hello, > > I am trying to configure magnolia to use an external user database for > authentication (groups and roles can be managed by magnolia) and user data > (e.g. purchases, addresses, etc.) used for user profiles. > > My first thought was that I need a custom ExternalUser which would require a > custom UserManager, but I'm not sure how to deal with groups and roles here > as I would like these to be handled by magnolia. > > Has anyone had similar concerns and found solutions?
