Ah, ok, excellent, I will try to make a Model class and see how it goes. I agree with you about coding something that doesn't fit into the Magnolia way of doing things. Certainly I'd rather do it the "right" way, using Magnolia Model class. I simply find the documentation of doing things without STK to be rather lacking.
But I'll give it a try, extending info.magnolia.module.templating.RenderingModelImpl, see how it goes. Would you happen to know of any examples of tutorials for working with extending the Model class?
