I cannot speak for Anubha, but what about e.g. trying to do some backward 
compatibility with an old IIS/Windows powered site (now replaced with 
Magnolia)? You know, Microsoft implements some (many) standards in a very ... 
ehm, creative way, and IIS interpretes URLs as case-insensitive (at least old 
versions I had the "luck" to tackle with).

Anyway, just adding the filter could be not enough, you also have to prevent 
users (editors) from creating more pages that have the same case-insensitive 
representation, otherwise you'll end in a problem what to serve to 
http://localhost:8080/xyz.html request, if there are in fact /Xyz.html, 
/xYz.html and /xyZ.html pages. ;-)
