Thank you for replying Will. In older browsers there is the problem is that there will be only maximum two files downloaded at the time.(scripts block parallel downloads. The HTTP/1.1 specification suggests that browsers download no more than two components in parallel per hostname. )
With javascript files in the head, this could cause delays in what the visitor sees in the browser. If you place them at the bottom, images and such will be loaded before so at least the visitor will see something is happening.
