Nope, the change needs to be done in module descriptor (xml file packaged w/
the module). You will need to restart the instance.
What you are looking for is this:

<type>info.magnolia.cms.exchange.Syndicator</type>
<implementation>info.magnolia.module.exchangesimple.SimpleSyndicator</implementation>
