Dear Magnolians
Time and again we have been contacted by customers who were experiencing severe
problems uploading documents to the DMS. First we thought this would be an
other IE problem and suggested them to use Firefox (as uploading worked fine in
FF for us). But now we have to realize that it must be something more serious.
We tried debugging the problem with our hosing partner but could not find a
solution yet.
My test cases for the latest tests I ran this morning:
- Windows 7 64bit
- IE 9 "standard mode"
- Magnolia 4.4.9 -> takes forever to upload a 25K file and fails
- Magnolia 4.5.9 -> same
- Firefox 20
- Magnolia 4.4.9 -> takes long to upload a small (25K) file
- Magnolia 4.5.9 -> same
- Windows XP
- IE 8 "standard mode"
- Magnolia 4.4.6 -> takes forever to upload 750KB, not
successful
- Magnolia 4.4.9 -> same
- Magnolia 4.5.9 -> same
- Windows XP
- IE 8 "compatability mode"
- Magnolia 4.4.6 -> takes forever to upload 750KB, not
successful
- Magnolia 4.4.9 -> same
- Magnolia 4.5.9 -> same
- Windows XP
- IE 6 (!!!)
- Magnolia 4.4.6 -> o.k. (about 10 sec)
- Magnolia 4.4.9 -> o.k. (about 10 sec)
- Magnolia 4.5.9 -> o.k. (about 10 sec)
Important info about the tests:
- All windows machines are VirtualBox VMs. I cannot reproduce the errors on an
other Windows 7 (32bit) machine. But our customers are not running VMs and are
still experiencing the problems.
- The Magnolia 4.5.9 site used for the tests is the Magnolia Demo website, so
nothing funky in the setup of the machine.
Any advice, workarounds, experiences are warmly appreciated as this makes
Magnolia useless for some of our customers. And the problem also occurs for
public file upload stuff where we cannot say "us browser X and you will be
fine".
