The Resources page is long due an update. What's more, the whole discussion 
about classpath on that page is misleading. The classpath, as the name 
suggests, is for loading classes. Resources are loaded from the "resource path" 
using the /.resources pattern. 

I confirm your point B that Magnolia doesn't load resources from the classpath. 
It loads from /mgnl-resources in your module JAR.

Note that with this approach resources are not extracted on the file system but 
served from inside module JAR. The downside is that you can't them easily. If 
you need editability, try bootstrapping such resources from /mgnl-docroot to 
<context path>/docroot.
