The current UI experience is very nice and interesting in Magnolia. GMail offered in the first versions the same approach, but afterwards they decided to offer also a basic html based interface (this will work on `all“ browsers).

We support strictly firefox, ie 6 and safari 1.3 for the editors. Every editor should be able to get access to such a browser.

The effort to make magnolia full backward compatibility would not pay off.

Thanks very much Philipp. I fully agree with you that from your perspective this is completely correct. However I have noticed that Safari support is `with some limitations“ this leaving the Mac world without too many alternatives.

Coming back to the 2nd part of my question: how hard would be to 
develop/replace basic html interfaces?
