Hello Richard, Sorry for the late response, I was just notified today by another magnolian that you have problems with this issue.
I am running magnolia on mag3 rc2 on mysql and it runs quite fine. my setup: Magnolia 3 RC2 Red hat linux Mysql 4.something About your mysql problems: I had the very same issue, and on my installation it was caused by a bug in the mysql connector. Using the old mysql connector, magnolia bootstrapped fine on the first start. However on the second start magnolia did not boot, because it seemed to try to bootstrap again. The log files of magnolia contained messages, telling that certain tables already exist. The Solution: I used a newer version of the mySQL connector. Currently my installation uses the mysql-connector-java-3.1.12-bin.jar and it works fine. Another important issue: I noticed that magnolia stops working after a while, and the log fines contain "broken pipe" errors. This seems to be caused by MYSQL server, because it closes the connections earlier than magnolia. This can be easily solved by adding a parameter to the sql connection string: autoReconnect=true. <param name="url" value="jdbc:mysql:///magnolia_author?autoReconnect=true"/> There is also a wiki page describing the procedure, but I guess you found this already: http://www.magnolia.info/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=SettingUpMySQLRepository *********************************************** IPH Informatik AG Herr Claudio Greuter Lagerhausstrasse 9 8400 Winterthur Tel: +41 (052) 233 94 72 Fax: +41 (052) 233 94 71 [EMAIL PROTECTED] *********************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------- for list details see http://www.magnolia.info/en/magnolia/developer.html ----------------------------------------------------------------
