You might find it helpful to have a look at the info available in the bug
tracker:

At least I find it helpful in getting a sense of when things are stable
enough or the bugs that matter to my deployment are fixed. For example, one
might compare the rate of confirmed new major bugs found (that matter to you)
with the rate at which they are being fixed.
