Hi. Since I haven’t used it a lot in a long time, I can’t remember the exact details but the crash I experienced the other day was when using the uv editor window. I don’t remember the exact sequence of actions I did, but I do remember having issues with the uv editor a long time ago as well.
Also, for some odd reason I cannot double click on my project to open RS on one win10 machine but it works on another. I can open the project from within RS on both machines. On the failing machine, RS simply hangs while loading and I have to force quit it. In the past I made lots of scripts and plugins and I recall those to be extremely sensitive - tiny errors would cause RS to crash hard. I would expect at least the scripting engine to be somewhat “sandboxed”. Related to this is the quite poor scripting documentation - there are several methods with incorrect parameter definitions in the auto generated js files and there are also several methods that require parameter data types that aren’t defined in the scripting engine. For quite some time, I have been thinking that the ideas of how things are done in RS are great but that a complete re-make of the code base is needed to return it to the forefront of user experience on updated hardware. The OpenGL real time tenderer is also quite funky in v6. It doesn’t crash, but often the geometry it displays is far from the geometry that I expect - and far from the geometry that is rendered by the ray tracer. This is especially noticeable when using boolean solid geometry. I suppose that I could accept some discrepancies but more fidelity here would be good. Oh, another thing I remember is that when clicking the thumbnail in the “Save as” dialogue, RS often crashes. That is what I can remember right now.
