well, rootstrap was designed and developed by Matt Zimmerman and it works
only on debian. The Debian UML team, at the moment Mattia Dongili, Andreas
Schuldei and myself, has been working of the uml tools for Debian.
Rootstrap is the remaining pkg still with a lot problem that prevent it to
work properly.
For your problem I may suggest to comment "install_modules=yes" at the end
of your rootstrap.conf and to try to work (for the moment) without the
network settings. In this way you are required to use
"mirror=file:///cdrom/", instead of the suggested mirror, in order to get
the packages for your instance.
In these days, among the various work and personal business, I have been
taking care of rootstrap.
