Is there a Roadmap with planned releases available?
E.G. have we any idea how long before 1.8.0 final will be out?
Ant is an open source project and does not have strict time lines,
everything is subject to votes.
My guess as a release manager is that the final release could be out in
two months.
Although there will be bugs and there is already one small incompatible
change planned concerning 1.8.0RC1, it is worth trying already.
So far I have seen someone complaining about a regression in packaging
tasks.

A filter called appendtolines in 1.8.0RC1 which will be called
suffixlines in the next RC and in the final version.
It usually takes two to three weeks to get a more exhaustive view of
regressions and issues with a new release.
