Hi, Thanks for the quick response.
I realise that as an F/OSS project that timelines are not strict but its nice to have a rough timeline. The reason for this from my point of view is that I release a project that is tied into the Ant version we use. I am interested in the 1.8.0 functionallity and I have a release in the 4/6 weeks. If there was a planned smaller amount of time then I would probably download and install RC1 with a view to upgrade to 1.8.0-final ASAP. A larger time between the RC and final means that I would probably not upgrade to 1.8.0 with the next release. Thanks for all the work, I will certainly try out 1.8.0 in the mean time and report back any problems _if_ i encounter anything. Many thanks, 2010/1/14 Antoine Levy Lambert <[email protected]>: > Alex Foreman wrote: >> >> Is there a Roadmap with planned releases available? >> E.G. have we any idea how long before 1.8.0 final will be out? >> >> > > Ant is an open source project and does not have strict time lines, > everything is subject to votes. > > My guess as a release manager is that the final release could be out in two > months. > > Although there will be bugs and there is already one small incompatible > change planned concerning 1.8.0RC1, it is worth trying already. > > So far I have seen someone complaining about a regression in packaging > tasks. > https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=48541 > > A filter called appendtolines in 1.8.0RC1 which will be called suffixlines > in the next RC and in the final version. > > It usually takes two to three weeks to get a more exhaustive view of > regressions and issues with a new release. > > Regards, > > Antoine > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] > For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected] > > -- Alex Foreman --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
