Andre, sure, point taken .. ;-). I wasn't actually suggesting to use Database#isPersistent(), ... never mind. As you are already looking into the code(base), why not create a new issue at http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CASTOR, and attach a small patch as wll .. ;-).
