Andrew,

can you please create a new issue at http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CASTOR,
summarizing your request (and all essential information discussed in this
thread), and I'll take care of it. I think adding methods such as
Database.isLocked() should be possible.

Werner

wg> Werner,

wg> >Andre,

wg> >sure, point taken .. ;-). I wasn't actually suggesting to
wg> use Database#isPersistent(), ... never mind. As you are
wg> already looking into the code(base), why not create a new
wg> issue at http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CASTOR, and attach

wg> Currently iam short on time. I think changing behaviour of
wg> Database#isPersitent() is a bad idea, because some people use
wg> workarrounds or wathever. Its possible to add a method in interface
wg> Database? E.g.: Database#getState(Class entity, Object identity).
wg> Returnvalue informs about state like locked/notlocked.
wg>
wg> Next months, june or july, i have more time to implement
wg> this method, in
wg> case this is possible, and applied patch to castor#jdo...
