John, you have come across a (minor) bug with Castor 1.2, which has already been fixed with SVN trunk and will be released as part of the next release (1.2.1 or 1.3).
With Castor 1.2, there's unfortunately no way to turn this off. Werner PS Odd, I would have thought that adding org.exolab.castor.builder.jclassPrinterFactories=\ org.exolab.castor.builder.printing.StandardJClassPrinterFactory to a custom castorbuilder.properties and setting it on your SourceGenerator might actually avoid this nuisance ..... well.
