Indeed, I did this after our earlier exchange, and this gets rid of all
the truly common material -- which significantly cuts down the overall
problem.  It still leaves a (small) problem in that there is still a lot
of replication in each project specification.

Possibly, but I think I'd prefer to stick to an in file, Gradle-based
solution.
