It sounds more like you are starving your connection. You need to look at all these vectors, (Router, Switch, Server and Firewall) through put. I am betting this is a hardware issue in the network. Biggest killer is a CAT5 unshielded cable slowing the whole thing down.
What I am not seeing your description: 1. Virtual technology (VMware, Xenserver, KVM, Hyper-V (MS)) 2. How many connections 3. Model of Sonicwall (for throughput) 4. Do you have virtual tools installed ? 5. What OS is the guest 6. Ram allocated, Disk, number of CPUs. The biggest killer in virtualization is inodes if your running on a 7500 RPM drive vs 10K RPM drive or a 15K RPM drive and how many vs SSD, then in SSD is it enterprise or consumer grade. Anything less than 5 drives on a spindle your performance will feel really slow. There are a lot of factors people do not take in to account when deploying virtualization. Hope this helps. ----- A Cybersecurity Enablement Company We don't just run you through the motions, Our labs teach you how to think!
