Applications running within the terminal that are aware of screen size
(vim, for example) correctly handle changes to terminal size despite the
lack of a PTY? Without a PTY, I'd expect Guacamole's terminal emulator to
resize itself correctly, while interactive applications running within the
terminal would start to misbehave.

Sure. Previously, you mentioned:

What did you find that showed the request was sent successfully? Or is this
assumed based on the observation that ignoring the error doesn't appear to
break anything?
