Apache projects are required to use these lists as their primary channels, and my understanding is there are good reasons for this. I would prefer discord, gitter, slack or a real forum as support channel. Any of these are probably worth considering as secondary channels. I would also be curious whether any other Apache projects have started pointing users at these in addition to the universal set of mailing lists. Re-reading that Nabble post regarding preserving the forum interface, it looks like that's actually gone for good regardless of our thoughts here: "... Note that we no longer do mailing list archiving, so if you own an old mailing list archive, there is no point to preserving it. ..." - Mike
