Yes, its definitely on the roadmap to release a version with those in
the near future. You can ask for more information on the hdfs-user
lists perhaps.

For now, people run 0.20-append or CDH (which is essentially
append+security+0.20.2 if you look at its backports, nothing
proprietary or closed source) in production without issues.
