Hi, this would probably be better suited to a dev list, but I don't subscribe to that, so here goes :-)
IMO, instead of rewriting submitted patches gravely, it would be preferable to merge them as-is (so long as they don't introduce severe problems) and submit a new patch that makes all the fixes that the reviewer deems to be in order. That way, SVN history preserves the distinction between what Andrey implemented and what you added. Of course, it's up to each OSS project to decide how to treat code submissions, so this is just a pair of cents I throw into the round.
