Hi Luca,
it depends of your development.
If you "deploy" on Karaf, upgrading if easy to do (mostly update the
system and lib folders).
If you "ship" Karaf, quite the same depending of your distribution.
For a production, my advice is to avoid hot deploy and prefer
bundle:install/bundle:upgrade (or feature:install).
