Install -s mvn:... will indeed first look in your local .m2 repo. Do you
have you local maven repo in the default place?
If yes then it should work.

After Sean reported some problems I had updated my db/examplejpa and
cameljpa/jpa2jms examples to work with karaf 3.0.1-SNAPSHOT. Can you
also try the example on your system it should work out of the box.
For some reason it does not work for Sean.
