yeah, as long as the pax-logging bundle isn't started the default will take
place and this one does log to sysout.
BUT the Pax Logging bundle is startlevel 2 and it's the second bundle to be
installed so what are you guys doing with your bundles beeing started before
that?

I remember that we have something about the log in the Karaf Main (as the Pax
Logging service is not yet there).

Let me take a look around that. I keep you posted.

Yes,

After one or a couple of seconds all logs are sent to the karaf.log file as
expected.

I'm wondering if sysouts may not come from logs sent when the bundle is first
started (during startup)...

It's weird, as I don't have it locally.

Are you sure to not have a SystemOut appender in org.ops4j.pax.logging.cfg or
another log config ?

If it's on the console it might well be a sysout? I'd try to check that.

Karaf is started with the console (bin/karaf) but at startup some logs
are displayed on the screen instead of being directed to the karaf.log file.

There is no tweak to the logging configuration file and the logger
used is Log4J. Those logs come from a bundle which wraps a library
coming from another team, so I'm not too sure what is happening.

I guess Karaf logging is ready before the first user bundle is
started, correct?

Hi JP,

don't you use bin/start to run Karaf ?

If so, stdout is redirect to data/karaf.out. Is it what you talk about ?

What's the logger you use in your bundle and did you tweak
etc/org.ops4j.pax.logging.cfg ?
