i found the snapshots at http://svn.apache.org/snapshots/cocoon-2.1/
those are old, and should not be used.
is there a public cocoon svn repository? the cocoon page does not mention one, and a casual glance at svn.apache.org did not reveal it either... since the tarball is so big, i'd rather update than pull new versions all the time.
