Hi Lenya users,
if there is interest in developing 3rd-party modules for Lenya as
open source outside the ASF repository, we could for instance create
a project at Origo (http://www.origo.ethz.ch/). I'd start with
moving the feed and person modules from the sandbox to the external
repository.
why do you want to move the person and feed module outside of the ASF?
IMO the question should be asked the other way round - why should we
keep a particular module in our codebase?
The person module is only used for a tutorial, I think this doesn't
justify keeping it in the repository. Maybe we could add it as a ZIP
file to the documentation.
The feed module is still very rudimentary. It works only with specific
RSS feeds, there's no error handling etc. AFAIK it didn't gain any
interest by others - otherwise a lot of bugs would probably have been
reported :)
As long as I'm the only person who maintains the module, I think it is
inappropriate to keep it in the ASF repository.
WDOT?
I do have interest in the feed module. I just haven't had the chance to
test or use it yet. It does seem to be something I'll have to get around
to sometime in the next year. However, I have objections to it being
moved off.
