Thanks much, Mattias.
I got it up and running, but I'm not clear on what caused the problem. For
anyone who might be interested this is what I did:
Joe:neo4j-community-1.4.2 Joe$ ./bin/neo4j start ##
according to helpful suggestion by Mattias
Joe:neo4j-community-1.4.2 Joe$ ./bin/neo4j start
Detected installation in launchd, starting it…
Joe:neo4j-community-1.4.2 Joe$ ./bin/neo4j status ##
didn't start the server, but ./bin/neo4j info now works
Neo4j Server is not running
Joe:neo4j-community-1.4.2 Joe$ ./bin/neo4j remove
## I tried removing the
installation for the hell of it
override rw-r--r-- root/staff for
/Users/Joe/Library/LaunchAgents//org.neo4j.server.plist? n ## but
backed out
Joe:neo4j-community-1.4.2 Joe$ ./bin/neo4j start
## tried start again
Starting Neo4j Server...WARNING: not changing user
process [74358]... waiting for server to be ready....... OK.
## SUCCESS! ...but still
clueless about the problem
