Also, I just noticed that it is not possible to edit closed issues
anymore, so you have to reopen closed issues in order to make changes to
fix version and other things. That creates unnecessary noise and it
makes sense to allow direct edits.

is not the case.
I recall that some time ago you was going to introduce intermediate
status to allow resolve issues and then close them, I see that
workflow is active, perhaps issues with attachments been introduced at
that time. Would it be possible to fix this?
