I just went through this Process with a 1.2.x Site and discovered two
ways:
First, the easy way, you can just run a 1.2.x DB driven Midgard Site
with 1.4. I used this as a migration solution. The old administration
Interface continues to work, you don't even have to update the DB
structure. Although I'm not sure what implication this hav with new
functionality like sitegroups. Emiliano should know this :)
Secondly you can update the DB structure of a 1.2.x DB easily. I did
this and didn't encounter any problems. My website is a 1.2.x site
developed there and I use it now with 1.4 for about a month and didn't
had any problems.
Live long and prosper!
