I tried some more times, and there is no single point where it
all breaks -- sometimes in the above mentioned style element,
but at other times in the page itself. You can take a look

The unpredictable breaking point brought me to the idea that it
might have something to to with the images getting fetched --
but I just tried without images and the result is the same.

I'll get gdb installed tomorrow ...
