Well, to say the least, this series of steps caused alot more confusion. Not
so much on my part, but it seems that things are not working consistently.
Here's what I did:
- Adjusted the db host table, ok.
- Checked login rights to root, ok.
- Created a sitegroup, ok.
- Login to sitegroup... would not work with admin+sg, only worked with
admin*sg? Hope this is ok.
- Backup clean db, ok.
- Created a new SG0.xml.gz, ok
- Foreach new sitegroup:
- copy & edit repligard.conf, ok (used login of admin*sg).
- import SG0.xml.gz...
I had a few problems with this... the first seemed to be that in my previous
use of xsg, I had changed the conf file in a few ways, so I got a clean
config file and tried again. This time the import worked okay up to a point,
but gave me an error that actually prevented all of the Topics and articles
to import correctly. It seems that xsg had exported an improper record into
the XML. The record type appears to be a "pageelement", but appears to be a
midgard error from output. If I remove the pageelement entirely, the import
works. The exact error is "$pageelement is not an object in content on
line 83... $page is not an object in content on line 95 ERROR!" My first
attempts at doing the second sitegroup have not gone well yet, but I will
worry about cleaning up the first one before I tackle the next.
- Host updates and cleanup.
On my first attempt, I discovered the missing topic/article problem. This
seemed like it will be alot of work, but I was glad to see that the deletes
work recursively in the trees. I seem to have assigned several hosts and so
forth to specific authors which I want to reorganize. This will be the
majority of the work I will need to do. I

Luckily, I have another dual boot system which I am using for development
now, so that is where all these major changes are taking place. Once I have
a working DB, I will just export it to the production site.
Thanks again, this has been a great help,
Fred
