Yes. Midgard comes with three basic fields that you can define on your own.
Also, it is possible to add more fields by using a feature called
parameters, although this is much harder to implement since you then must
change the admin interface. I'm not sure how much you know about using php,
(the maual at www.php.net is great) but you have complete controll over what
fields are displayed on the frontpage and in the article itseld.

Yes, you can sett a start- and end date on a article, but I belive the
functionset for finding those articles is a bit more limited than for
articles without these functions. (I haven't used these functions much
myself).
