There is no such limitation to my knowledge.

Yes, but you have to use midgard-1.4.1/PHP4, and you can use the &(variable:xfilter); 
capabilty (filter is then a user defined function).

If you put your text in the content field of a page, you can use page-elements to 
split the different parts. If you're using article, you can use an attachment 
(attachments can also be text).
