no, it wasn't a mysql problem (we solved this one, didn't we ?), but the 
now-well-known bug #167 (segfault in midgard-php RINIT).

ah sorry, I should have told you to make a backup of your conf directory.
well, anyway, rpm -bb *.src.rpm doesn't (shouldn't) change anything in your system, 
but just compile and rebuild a binary (or binaries) of apache.
After the rebuild, install them as usual (so you can uninstall them in case of problem 
to reinstall the official binaries).
