Hi,

I subscribed just yesterday after facing a problem
with the installation and so i missed the beginning of
this thread, i am assuming its about the same problem
i had, since i was able to overcome it, i would like
to tell u what i had to do

my system has Mandrake 8.0 installed. I got the 1.4.1
tar files for midgard and set out to install them.
before that i installed the required apache & php
packages. i tested apache and it was working fine with
php enabled. then i installed midgard-libs, data, php
and mod packages. all went ok. when i tried to start
the httpd server like this:
        # service httpd start
it would say
        httpd starting [OK]
                                [OK]
                                [OK]
and later there would be no httpd server running.
after a couple of hours of retries and headaches i
concluded that it was the problem with the rpms
themselves. The apxs file comes in a separate
apache-dev package. It wasn't giving the correct info
as well as the php-config.
Then i downloaded the source files for apache-1.3.20
and php-4.0.5, compiled as given in the installation
manual, and it works fine. Even here i had a weired
problem in b/w. I compiled midgard-php using the mkall
script. it does its job but when i tried to start
httpd, php complains that it wasn't able to load
midgard.so as there was an undefined symbol in the
file (midgard_user_call_func) i can see that the func
was defined in midgard.c but php refuses to see it.
then i uninstalled php . in the ext/ dir, i ran the
ext_skel script to create the midgard module. it
created a basic skeleton over which i copied the
midgard-php sources. then i ran buildconf which
created the configure script with --with-midgard
option. after building php, it started working without
a prob.

There is still a bug though, i wasn't able to get
the asgard site running, i just got the old admin and
the example site. anyone ?

I hope this helps u if not sorry for spamming u, Bye.

                                Abhi.
