You can do that by using './configure --prefix=/usr' for midgard-lib.

> /usr/local/bin/php-config

$ which midgard-congih
/usr/local/bin/midgard-config

So it all depends on where you want it installed. You can also use
--bindir=/usr/bin or somesuch.
