Not likely, no. I was confusing you  with someone else.

That's correct. MMP caches source pages on the server to save a little
time assembling the entire page for each request. A side benefit of that
is that you can see what PHP is going to execute.

Since you're not running MMP (which is in beta, not released), you could
set loglevel to 'debug' and look in the logfile if midgard complains
about the 'auth' page element missing. But I hope someone with a little
more nadmin experience can shine a light on this. I don't really know
how nadmin is set up.
