Correct. BTW, all my struggling is the result of a hijacked computer.
The guy used a wu.ftp exploit and installed the adore rootkit. I nuked
the disk after saving important data such as the midgard database.
I had meanwhile re-installed phpMyAdmin and made the changes from there.

Yes, I did it to that very same effect.

Exactly, that was the case.

Yes. The output is now:

Membership record 2 in sg1 (SG1) points to person frank in SG0
            ^^^^^^^
            should possibly be 1

** LOGON VALIDITY CHECK **
1: frank in SG0
   validated root

Anyway, to my greatest relief, I can now login as frank*sg1 to the old
admin site and the users can use the production site as they always did.
