Great. I'll release 1.4.3 final today or tomorrow, depending on my
work-load here. There were no further release-critical bugs so I intend
to fire out this release now. Then we can a) build the Deb's, RPM's and
so ond and b) start discussion on what to do with 1.4.4.

If we use the chroot-buildenvironment approch (additional advantage:
can be easily moved between different systems by copying the chrooted
environment).
