I actually didn't see the nightly builds section with the apt source when I first installed midgard so I just downloaded the debs from the website and then installed them manually using dpkg. I installed 1.4.4 from the source packages because I was installing on an ibook and so couldn't use the i86debs.
Thanks for pointing that, out I have added the nightly build apt source to the intro of my install write up and noted that it would be an easier way to do it.

Hi John!
Also I have written up my install experiences of Midgard and Aegir on Debian systems. Includes Midgard 1.4.3 installed via debs and 1.4.4 built from source on Debian PowerPC system. If anyone is interested you can find them at http://www.sydney.wilderness.org.au/docs/node.php?id=24Just my curiosity...
Why You installed all these dev packages before fetching midgard ones?
If You installed 1.4.3 , why You used dpkg instead just apt?
apt-get install php4-midgard for woody and apt-get install midgard for sid works very fine
