Hi,

I have been looking for an off-the-shelf CMS with CV capability.
Midgard/Aegis seems just that. However, I've been looking through
the site & documentation and wondering how I might install it.

I wouldn't consider myself a 'techie' but I understand about things
like compiling etc. and I can follow instructions - provided they
don't assume I know an awful lot. At this point I haven't a clue
what I should do.

Basically, I want something that I can install in a common-or-garden
ISP environment whee the ISP is running several accounts on a
machine. AFAICS the server I have access to is running Apache under
Free BSD. It's also running MySQL and obviously PHP4 is available.

I have Plesk to administer my account and have access to .htaccess,
plus I can run cron jobs (I think I know what they are!!). At a push
I could also get shell access via SSH though not telnet (though I'm
not sure what this is).

When I go into my admin panel I can look at my directory structure
which shows me a "root directory". However, I know this isn't the
server root but a root to my filespace.

So, my question. Is it possible to configure Midgard and Aegis into
such an environmnet? And if so, how? I'm a bit concerned that the
instructions I've read so far seem to tell me to reboot things like
apache and/or mySQL. No chance in my case.

If this doesn't work, what are my options in respect of using an
ISP. I've looked through the archives hoping to find an answer to my
question but most of you seem to have your own servers.

Thanks.

Paul

p.s. My 'at home' machine is a trusty old Apple Mac running OS9.
Dont know if this has any relevance.
