Greetings!
| I have been looking for an off-the-shelf CMS with CV capability. | Midgard/Aegis seems just that. However, I've been looking through | the site & documentation and wondering how I might install it.
If you had had root access on your system, the instructions on the Aegir CMS site would've been sufficient: ~ http://www.aegir-cms.org/Documentation/Installation/
| Basically, I want something that I can install in a common-or-garden | ISP environment whee the ISP is running several accounts on a | machine. AFAICS the server I have access to is running Apache under | Free BSD. It's also running MySQL and obviously PHP4 is available.
Now, here your level of access to the system is the question. If you can't install new Apache or PHP modules you might want to take a look at Midgard Lite: ~ http://lite.midgard-project.org/
| I have Plesk to administer my account and have access to .htaccess,
You could also ask you ISP to set up Midgard for you. There are some notes on how it works with Plesk available: ~ http://www.midgard-project.org/news/midgard%2Dplesk.html
| plus I can run cron jobs (I think I know what they are!!).
Cron jobs are for scheduled operations (index your site for search engine, run statistics reports, etc)
| At a push | I could also get shell access via SSH though not telnet (though I'm | not sure what this is).
Telnet is command line access like SSH, but unsecure.
