Actually, if your site is running a relatively recent CVS version of MidCOM there is support for feature called "Viewer Groups".
With this, you can go to Aegir and edit topics you want to be hidden. Just select the groups you want to make able to view the contents of those topics from the Viewer Groups select dialog in topic details.
The navigation code should already have check for if ($node[MIDCOM_NAV_VISIBLE]) hiding the topics from navigation from non-authenticated users or users that are not member in those particular groups.
