Hi!

I'm working as a web programmer and I'm starting to migrate one of my
company's client's websites (well, two actually) from static html to a
midgrad-powered CMS system. I spent the last few days studying the manual and
searching the web for tutorials, but I'm still unsure how to start. From what
I've read so far, there are numerous tools which can be used and I wanted to
know what you think would be best for my project.

Here's a short description:

There are two different web sites with different domains and different user
bases. Both sites are b2b marketing tools which are members only (approx.
3000 members each). There are 100-200 individual pages (with identical
layout) in both sites which are organized in a fairly simple tree structure.
Our client is planning to add simple personalization by which they mean that
they organize their visitors in groups and each group should have one page
which is not visible to the other groups.

What I want to achieve is the following:
-visitors have to login
-based on their login, the group page should be linked from the front page.
-the "index" article for each topic should have an automatically generated
list of all articles (table of contents) in this topic
-our client wants to be able to add and deltet topics and articles in each
level of the hierarchy (including the pages for the groups)

I guess all of this is pretty easy to achieve in Midgard (which is why we
decided to use it in the first place), but like I said, I'm not sure how to
start and I thought instead of producing a faulty design, it'd be bettter to
ask first.
From what I can tell, most of this can be done with MidCOM, but I'm not sure
about the table of contents functionality. Also, I guess that the "group
page" feature has to be implemented some other way. I was wondering if it
would be wise to simply create the topic structure and insert the content in
using midcom-admin and trying to find a solution for the other features
within aegir or if there's any other/better way?

Confused,

Andreas
