This post is going to get a little long.
I'm from a youth in technology group (YIT) from the Australian computer society (ACS) which is attempting to redevelop its victorian branch website http://www.acsvic.com
While the project stalled, I pushed for a CMS solution.
I belived that attempting to build from scratch such as large complex system that required input without the user knowing any kind of markup (ie they need a GUI) would be replicating work done by existing CMS systems.
While I'm not a web designer, nor do I claim to be, I am the project leader and am looking at re-focusing the project on http://www.itcareers.acs.org.au/ which would greatly benefit from some interactive features.
These features would include forum systems, mailing lists, dynamically generated code for members, possibly RSS newsfeeds,a calendar/event organising system and valid HTML/XHTML.
It is also a requirement that people can administer the site without knowing a markup language at all (ie GUI only).
I'm only a second year uni student, this project is designed to be completed by uni students in the shortest amount of time possible (I knows its not exactly going to be very short...).
So I was wondering whether phpnuke is appropriate to this situation? What are your recommendations?
Thankyou, Gareth
BTW I am aware that CMS systems are large and difficult, I just wanted to check whether you, the community belive its appropriate.
